For the fourth consecutive year, Nexigen is again being recognized by the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce as an “Emerging 30” award designee. Inclusion to the Chamber’s annual list, which recognizes extraordinary achievement by its small business members in the Northern Kentucky Area, reflects sustained growth over a 3 year period of an annual 15% or more average, fewer than 150 employees and revenues in excess of $250,000. Nexigen has added ten employees so far in 2015 to reach 35 total as this article is published.
“We couldn’t be happier to get this recognition as an organization”, commented Jon Salisbury, co-owner of the company along with J.J. Schaffer, “because this sustained growth reflects the quality of our team more than ever. We have put a tremendous effort into systems and processes while trying to maintain a fun working environment.”
Some of that fun can run the gamut - from organized events like their company training and fun outing at Xhiliracing in Florence, the annual basement to rooftop gathering, extended to all family and friends, for the WEBN Labor Day Fireworks, and the annual movie theatre “experience” for customers and partners – to almost daily “mouse pad wars,” intense ping pong matches, and weekly Mon morning meetings that regularly include “shout outs” for a job well done and/or outstanding customer feedback.
In addition to the emphasis on processes, Nexigen has partnered with Gateway Community and Technical College to deliver custom training for its staff, is partnering with Northern KY University to deliver a Cyber Security Symposium, and is in the early stages of developing a partnership with area high schools to develop cyber security training and to develop cyber security competition teams.
“As we grow, we are looking for more and more ways to maintain and even grow in our role as ‘responsible corporate citizen.’ We’re looking for innovative ways to give back to the community that also contribute to the growth and positive perception of Newport and all of the Northern KY region,” said Salisbury. But we don’t want to stop there. We hope to also extend our involvement in both the greater business community and the overall community at large of the whole Greater Cincinnati area.”
